How to Clean the Registry in Windows 10

Does it Really Matter to Clean the Registry?

Let’s face it, lot of people are feeling insecure and want to install any software to fix problems that are not even there…

We get the feeling of security by purchasing software that sell us the ideas of “speed” and “performance“, or use freewares to improve our Windows’ power.

But does it really matter?

From my experience I found that using a registry cleaner is only recommended for after 3 months of PC usage, this is a 4 registry repairs/scans in a year.

Having a PC slowing down after months of use mean that Windows is having difficulty finding files that are not even there thanks to messy “uninstall” code that won’t remove all the files from registry while removing them from the drive.

Also keep in mind that nothing is there for “free“, the free software will usually come with some “little” recommended software or “Set this site as your home page…“, so don’t trust theses offers and un-check them to avoid further enlarging your registry.

Keep it simple, test the programs you are going to see in this article, they are completely free but you will still have to avoid what comes.

Tip: Create a Restore Point First

Before you do any changes to your system (registry in our case) you should create a restore point or create a backup file of your registry.

To create a restore point please follow the steps mentioned in this tutorial: Quickly Create a System Restore Point on Windows 10!

In order to create a backup for your registry open the registry editor using the command REGEDIT and then go to “File” and choose “Export” to create a backup file with the extension .reg.
